Military Cords Meaning - Graduating from college is an incredible achievement. In recognition of this achievement, the graduation ceremony is a day of celebration for graduates, the culmination of hard work and determination every step of the way. A long tradition at the beginning, honor cords are worn for ceremony, with each color recognizing the wearer as the recipient of a significant achievement or award. But what are these colors? Depending on which part of the country you are in, please allow up to 5 business days for UPS packages.4-7 THE UNIFORM AND ITS MEANING: The JROTC uniform designates the wearer as a member of the JROTC Program. Because all cadets, regardless of rank and function, wear the same type of uniform, its use signifies the unity present among the members of the Corps. However, the uniform takes on even greater personal significance for each cadet; A piece of formal wear, the uniform serves as a highly visible symbol of personal pride. In order to present a positive image to others and give a positive attitude about oneself, JROTC cadets are expected to maintain high standards of both personal appearance and grooming. In addition, the neat and well-groomed appearance of all cadets contributes to the development of pride and spirit in the JROTC Program and Wicomico High School. Commendations and accolades earned - and, conversely, dishonorable acts committed - while in uniform reflect not only on the cadets but on the program and school as well.

4-8 RESPONSIBILITY FOR PERSONAL APPEARANCE: Each individual cadet is responsible for maintaining a high degree of personal appearance by wearing the uniform in the prescribed manner and complying with all guidelines governing personal appearance. Cadet Leaders are responsible for ensuring that cadets under their command present a neat and well-groomed appearance in accordance with standards. Cadets in uniform are subject to on-site corrections by cadet leaders and military personnel for uniform violations while at school or on the way to and from school, including while riding a school bus.
(1) When and where: Cadets must wear their JROTC uniform on designated days and may only wear the specified class of uniform for that day. Typical events that require uniform wear include inspections, JROTC functions such as DrillTeam and Color Guard parades and meetings, JROTC personnel activities such as the introduction of "Back to School Nights" and the military awards banquet. Cadets are always notified of a uniform day several days in advance. On uniform days, cadets wear the uniform throughout the day, from the time they leave home until they return home or leave school for civilian duty.
(2) When not to wear it: Cadets may not wear their uniform at any time when not required by the SAI/AI. Cadets must put on the uniform just before leaving for school and take it off immediately upon returning home. Cadets participating in any physical education, woodworking, or art class during school are required to remove their uniform during class or wear a smock, as appropriate. Wearing the uniform does not excuse a cadet from participating. Additionally, working cadets are not required to wear the uniform on duty. Cadets participating in other non-physical extracurricular activities, such as after-school clubs, may remove their uniform for that activity.
(1) Absence: In the event of an excused absence from school on a designated uniform day (such as inspection), the cadet must wear the uniform the day after the JROTC class. Failure to follow these recovery procedures will result in the consequences outlined in section 4-9.

(2) There is no acceptable excuse for not wearing the uniform if the cadet is present at school on an occasion when the uniform will be worn. If there is any reason why a cadet cannot be in uniform on the selected day, the cadet must apply (to the SAI/AI) in advance to be exempted. If the uniform is damaged, the cadet must bring it to school immediately; the damaged part is changed as soon as possible, and provisions are made for the cadet until he has a serviceable uniform again. Having your uniform dry-cleaned and not receiving it in time for an event is not a valid excuse for not being in uniform; a note from home apologizing for not wearing a uniform is also unacceptable.
C. Failure to Make Up: In the event the uniform is not worn on the prescribed day and the cadet does not follow proper make-up procedures, the cadet will receive a “0” for the inspection grade/credit. Cadets may, with SAI approval, take the inspection for the following class period for a maximum of 50% credit. If the uniform is not worn more than (2) times, the cadet may lose that quarter. Senior cadets who do not pass any inspection are removed from leadership positions and demoted.
D. Prescribed Uniform: The following uniforms are prescribed and authorized for JROTC cadets at Wicomico High School.
(1) Class A: coat, AG 489, trousers, AG 489; AG 415 shirt; Garrison Chief, AG 489, with appropriate insignia; black shoes; black socks; name tag; all authorized insignia, ribbons, designated rank, awards, and unit crest.

(2) Class B: AG 415 shirt, short sleeves; pants, AG 489; garrison cap, AG 489, with appropriate insignia; black shoes; black socks; name tag; all authorized insignia, ribbons and nominee rank, awards and unit crest
(1) Class A: coat, AG 489, shirt, female AG 415 with collar tab; pants, AG 489; black shoes; black tights/socks; garrison cap, AG 489, with appropriate insignia; name tag; all authorized insignia, ribbons, designated rank, awards, and unit crest.

(2) Dress Uniforms (BDUs): BDUs are authorized to be worn at training events by members of the Raiders team and by those attending other events.
