Yf-24 Aircraft - By the mid-2050s, a new UN spaceship had developed a mission plan in which flexible fighters such as the VF-171 Nightmare Plus would counter with unmanned spacecraft such as the QF-4000 Ghost series. This posed a challenge for the division after VF-171, when by 2055 there was a strong belief that future aerospace forces would use unmanned aircraft in a primary combat role. However, in late 2057, Shinsei Industry shipped and demonstrated the YF-24 Evolution. The original YF-24 was canceled during development, and Shinsei Industry decided to continue with the initial development of a dynamic fighter focused on Inertia Store Converter (ISC) technology. Therefore, the YF-24 Evolution was built with an airframe incorporating the new ISC, where the prototype was named "Camel" due to the significant bulge in the spine required to mount the large system. In addition to the revolutionary ISC system, the YF-24 Evolution became a high-performance fighter that introduced various new technologies.

Technology for gravity/inertial control systems existed during the Protoculture era. Most models are designed for large warships, but there are smaller units such as the Quimeliquola Special Inertia Vector System built on Queadluun-Rau for the Zentradi military. The popularity of the technology on the ground ensured the continued use of advanced variable-speed fighters, and the Inertia Store Converter (ISC) was behind the YF-24 program. Although the General Galaxy YF-21 variable fighter was equipped with a Quimeliquola replica special inertia control system, inertia and acceleration were reduced by 10% or less. Due to cost and control issues, the system was not adopted for the VF-22 Sturmvogel II. Development continued, but the ISC prototype of the YF-24 was an oversized model that could not fit in the fuselage, which was too large (gross weight reached 18 metric tons). The system was also limited, only able to maintain 2G acceleration for a short period of 5 seconds. After the YF-24 program was terminated, Shinsei Industry's initial research continued and an improved small ISC model was developed to withstand high-G environments. The ISC will be installed on the new YF-24 Evolution, after field tests proved the ISC-equipped ship could intercept and shoot down the unmanned anti-aircraft variant of the QF-4000. VF-25 Messiah ISC/TO21 continued to improve to the point where cockpit acceleration could be reduced to 27.5G for 2 minutes (VF-27 Lucifer ISC - IVC/GC 01-gamma - assumed same operational class).

The YF-24 Evolution equipped with ISC performed very well. Three YF-24 Evolution fighters took part in simulated air combat tests, defeating 12 VF-19 Excaliburs and VF-22 Sturmvogels and 6 QF-4000 special air-to-air fighters. The spacecraft then developed a simulated attack designating a large space carrier as its primary target; one YF-24 Evolution fighter entered combat mode and made a direct hit on the space carrier's bridge with a simulated warhead. Impressive test results lead to confirmation of shipment and acceptance of the YF-24 Evolution. Maj. Isamu Dyson of the Reserve Service served as the test leader for the demonstration at New Edwards Cemetery and the National Space Test Center.

Advanced Tactical Fighter

Upon completion, Shinsei Industries provided the YF-24 Evolution design data for each emigrant ship. The Macross Frontier fleet evolved the YF-24 Evolution design into the VF-25 Messiah, which improved ISC and emphasized field and carrier use. Macross Galaxy sends the VF-27 Lucifer, which has almost the same performance as the VF-25 Messiah with larger components. The VF-25 and VF-27 are sister units as both are based on the YF-24 Evolution. However, the design of the VF-25 Messiah is said to be influenced by the VF-19 Excalibur, while the design of the VF-27 Lucifer is said to be influenced by the VF-22 Sturmvogel II. The performance of the two new fighters is different; While the VF-25's fuselage was designed with efficiency and aerodynamics in mind, the VF-27 was designed to accommodate a cyborg pilot with firepower and output in mind.
